Somatically driven deep germline sequencing

Colon cancer arises as a result of a complex process of somatic evolution on the background of an inherited set of risk mutations. The groups works closely in the european colon cancer network on the identification of novel risk loci for the disorder. This subprojects now aims at integrating the germline risk mutations with somatic carcinogenesis. To this end, next generation sequencing technology is used in cooperation with the Genome analysis group of the Leibniz-Institute Jena and the high-throughput infrastructure of the Kiel medical faculty.
