The project focuses on the standardisation and validation of the innovative techniques of whole genome amplification (WGA) and whole genome transcriptome (WTA) in the context of biobanks. A general standardized protocol for WGA and quality control of WTA in biobanking will be developed. This will benefit the industrial and scientific application of amplification techniques.

The major aims of the project are:
1. To establish standardized whole genome amplification protocols for large biobanks
2. To establish standardized WGA as a powerful tool to recover genomic DNA, which is available in minute amounts in plasma and serum samples
3. To optimize the WGA procedure by extensive quality control measures of WGA products
4. To establish whole transcriptome amplification (WTA) of large biobank samples
5. To optimize WTA procedures by extensive quality control of WTA products
