In eukaryotic cells, the phosphorylation of proteins plays an important role. First of all, signal transduction inside the cell is often achieved by fast covalent modifications of proteins, e. g. phosphorylation. In this project, phosphorylation dependent protein-protein interactions will be analysed in a genomewide systematic approach. This project will generate a map to describe modification dependent interactions in order to correlate them with cellular states „in vivo“. In this way, dynamic network states can be obtained, comprehensively describing important cellular processes. With this knowledge, it may be possible to modulate certain interactions, for instance by adding chemical substances. Modified network states can help to identify new therapeutic approaches as they are fundamental to pathological processes inside the cell. Possible modifications in cellular networks are analysed with regard to neurodegenerative diseases.
