The objective of this subproject is to model signalling pathways in the context of cancer cells, based on qualitative and quantitative data collected and analysed within IG-CSG. The generation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative models, that can be used to explain observed data and to predict the outcome of changes in the system with respect to certain components, form the basis of systems biology. Network reconstruction and analysis techniques will be applied in this context and therefore must be adapted, further developed and tailored to the specific needs of IG-CSG. The main application of this modelling will be the identification of cross talk between signalling pathways relevant for cell cycle progression. The final goal is a comprehensive network of signalling pathways involved in the regulation of cell cycle, which permits predictions on the outcome of gene perturbations, and thus forms the basis to identify novel schemes for therapeutic intervention.
